94. One-inch Aldershot District (South), 1914, with military grid (CCS 218B/49/5)

This is one of a few one-inch sheets overprinted during the first world war with military grids in the style of those in use on the western front, presumably for artillery training purposes. The present sheet shares with Aldershot (North) a system of twelve-inch squares overprinted in red, lettered from A to F, each subdivided into 36 quartered two-inch squares.
