One-inch (1:63,360) Old Series map of England and Wales, sheet 107NE

26. The one-inch Old Series map in northern England was much in demand, in many cases before it was available. There are many examples in existence of sheets printed before some features, usually contours, waterlining, wood and rough pasture infill, had been engraved. A few of these have the handwritten “Unfinished copy”, usually on hills copies which lack also the hachures. This is an example. The parish name ARTH[URET] is also handwritten.
