The base map is a sales version of Hants 83.12.1.
The only additions were offices for the Poor Law Union, a new wall round the re-shaped garden of Hampshire House and tree-planting along the roads to the south. None of this needed to be suppressed and one can see tthe printed sheet at https://maps.nls.uk/view/231279489. Within the Union Offices, the printed map distinguishes Offices from Waiting Rooms and Dispensary; the MS relies on writing the overall name 'Union Offices' over the part that contained the offices. Tweaking names like this we have encountered elsewhere. But towards Commercial Road the MS shows a wall with a gateway, retained from the 1874 revision; the printed map shows a fence. Changes to linework like this are exceeding rare.
