No.18 Hants 83.7.25

This is a WD-only version of Hants 83.7.25, printed October 1879.

The eastern part of the sheet had formerly been part of the fortified belt around Portsea. The female branch of the Garrison Hospital had already been erected; we see here its beautification, with a greenhouse against the northern wall. South of the railway line, the Garrison Recreation Ground has now been laid out. Cartographically, the most notable feature is the occurrence of "D.P." next to the greenhouse. Dung Pits were favoured for growing melons and pineapples.
